As the rain poured down from the sky, she watched. She saw the water droplets mix with the puddles that were now occupying most of the street. From her window, she was able to see the road, three blocks down, even in the thick, wet mist. her room was dark, as was her mood. Lightening flashed outside the window and her room was lit instantly. It died a second later as her roommate walked in.
"I thought you were getting control on your emotions," her roommate commented.
She chose not to look away from her window as she replied, "Guess not."
Thunder boomed loudly over the house making it shake. There was an inch deep river now running through the street. The rain continued to fall.
Her roommate sat on the edge of her bed. "What happened?"
"Nothing."
The room lit up once more as another bolt of lightening struck the road in front of their house.
"Obviously." Her roommate stood and headed for the door. "Whatever it is, fix it before you cause a hurricance. I doubt that would be easily explained in the middle of summer."
The boom of thunder clapping once more drowned the sound of the door shutting. She looked away from the window and stared at her jacket hanging from her desk chair, thinking. The rain played a tap dance against the outside glass. Before she could change her mind, she grabbed her jacket and hurried out of the house to her car.
She drove through the river in the road, under the loud thunder, and beside the bolts of lightening for three miles. Finally, she came to a stop in front of an orange brick house. She flew out of the car and jogged up to the front door. Hesitating for only a moment, she knocked on the door. After a few long minutes, he answered.
"What are you doing out in this weather?" he demanded as he pulled her inside. He removed her wet jacket.
She just stared at him. "Why?" she asked numbly.
He avoided her eyes as he responded. "Why what?"
"Why did you lie to me?" As she questioned him, he moved into the kitchen to make some hot cocoa, with her in hot pursuit. "Why did you try to hide it from me? You know how important that stuff is to me!"
Thunder and lightening struck at the exact same time, startling only him. She took several deep breaths and thought to herself, If I don't calm down, that hurricane will happen and then we'll all be in trouble. She waited for a response.
"I didn't do it to hurt you." He mixed chocolate powder with warm milk and stirred it with a spoon.
"Then why did you do it?" Thunder roared as she spoke.
"I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to be disappointed in me."
"I would have understood. What I can't understand is how you could look me in the eyes for nearly nine months and lie to me!"
Thunder shook the house, causing the two cups of hot chocolate to fall the floor with a shattering consequence.
"I haven't been lying for nearly nine months."
Thunder continued to echo through the house and lightening flashed every few moments.
"Then how long?"
He gazed into her eyes for a long time. He noticed tears starting to shimmer before he answered, "Five months."
"Five months?" She sank down slowly onto his couch. "Well, it's less than nine months but it still hurts." She looked at his face and into eyes. "What else have you lied about?"
"Nothing," he assured.
"Have you been hiding anything from me?"
"Just one thing."
He took her hand and gently pulled her outside. The rain welcomed them in a wet embrace. As she watched, he raised his arms so that his left pointed across his body to the right and his right arm faced the left in the same manner. Slowly, he moved them so his left pointed left and his right pointed right, arms still straight. As his arms moved, her storm clouds were blown apart by an unfelt wind, reminding her of a curtain separating at the start of a show onstage. Where her clouds had been only moments before, the moon was now giving light to the dark street. The river in the road caused by her storm was beginning to leak into the drains and many stars were already brightening the sky.
She stared upward. "You have control over the wind."
"And you have control over clouds."
A light breeze began to blow.
"Why didn't you tell me?" she asked.
"Why didn't you?" he challenged gently.
She didn't say anything. She knew why. Fear had stopped her. Fear of trusting anyone deeply enough to share that secret about herself. Then again, she knew only other elementals would understand her power. No mortal ever has.
"Is that it? Is that everything? Lies and anything being hidden from each other?"
"It is on my part."
"Good."
After pulling him to her, she brought their lips together. She knew it would take a lot of time to forgive him, but she was willing to do so. They loved each other will all of their hearts. She knew she would have to take him home to discuss his powers with the others, but that could wait until tomorrow. Tonight was for destiny. They're destiny to become one.

Just another neat idea I had. It's a short story so I only went into detail as it was needed. That's the beauty of short stories; you're not really supposed to have excruciating details lol But it has some detail so I hope you guys enjoy this one as well as the other one.

I love this one! How the whole setting feels dark and dreary for the first 3/4ths, and once you hit the end, they both realize who they are, well, who each other are and yes, it's hard to fix things that have been hidden for so long, but the way you wrote the end, it makes you feel that this cute couple still stands a fighting chance! Heheh, again, I love this one and I hope to see more soon! :D :D :D

To say you feel nothing does make you stronger. To say you feel everything does not make you weaker. To show you're hurt shows great strength.
